ABOUT DESIGNING A BROCHURE

Chances are you already have an idea in mind of what you want your brochure to look like, but what people sometimes overlook is what you want the brochure to accomplish for your business.

DEFINING THE PURPOSE OF YOUR BROCHURE

Do you want the brochure to sell your products? Showcase a particular product? Explain your services? Give an overview of your company? There are many different uses for a brochure, such as promotional, product or service based, company information, and event advertising.

THE GENERAL COMPANY BROCHURE

1) Decide which products or services you want to feature in the brochure

2)
Gather up all the information about these products/services and highlight the important, strong and unique selling points.

3) Take all information on your business card and expand on it. If you want, you can follow the same colour and design scheme.

4) You should further explain what your products/services can do for the customer/client.

5) The brochure can be as simple or complicated as you want. The amount of information on a brochure depends on what the brochure will be used for.

INFORMATION TO INCLUDE

This depends on the type of brochure you want to make, however, the key information to include in most brochures includes:

• Your company name, slogan, and logo
• List and explaination of products or services
• Photographs and illustrations
• Diagrams and charts
• You might want to leave room for a business card to be attached to your brochure.
• More extensive contact information such as forms, location maps, etc.

Decide early on how much information you want to include in the brochure. Do you want it to contain extensive information with alot of text? Or do you want to keep it simple? With a little text and a few pictures to go along.

PICTURES, DIAGRAMS, CHARTS

Photographs can be given to me as digital files (jpeg, tif, eps, psd, etc.) or I can scan the picture itself for $10/scan. Clipart photography can be purchased from $25 to $65 each. We are available to take product photography, either in our studio or on site at your location. Charts and Diagrams should be made to have a more graphical look which is pleasing to the eye.

CHOOSING A SIZE

When choosing a size it is important to keep in mind how you plan on distributing your brochures. This is also important when buying envelopes to put them in. The most common type of brochure is a 8 1/2" X 11" 3 fold.
